From Conflict to Leadership: Empowering Young Women

Never Again International – Canada recently celebrated International Women’s Day, continuing our mission to empower young women through the transformative power of education. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the systematic use of rape as a weapon of war has led to the country being branded as one of the most difficult places in the world to be a woman. By providing young peacebuilders with access to school, we are empowering youth affected by armed conflict to become active agents of peace.

We rely entirely on voluntary donations to fund this vital work. Your support helps young women speak up for gender equality and break down the barriers that prevent them from fulfilling their potential. Together, we can help forge a gender-equal world by empowering young girls to become leaders in their communities, eliminating the roadblocks to education, and working to end conflict-related sexual violence.

A Concrete Difference Through Education

Your donation allows young girls to participate in vital programming that challenges the marginalization caused by humanitarian crises. We are working to write a brighter future for war-affected girls in the DRC, equipping them with the tools to become the leaders of tomorrow and taking an active role in ending the recruitment of child soldiers.

While the international community has often neglected the situation in East Africa, where civilians are ravaged by gender-based violence, you can help break the cycle. You have the chance to make a profound difference by sending a young human rights advocate to school. Their education is only possible with your support.

Standing Up for Human Rights

Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights declares that everyone has the right to education. However, current school fees of $17,550 per year mean that, without intervention, these young girls will be unable to attend.

On December 10th, the youth of NAI-C celebrated Human Rights Day, commemorating the day in 1948 when the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration. With your help, we can continue to stand up for these rights all year long.

Upholding human rights is in the interest of all. Respect for human rights advances well-being for every individual, stability for every society, and harmony for our interconnected world.”

Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General
