Never Again International – Canada is a not-for-profit organization that engages youth around the world in activities that build sustainable peace. Our youth are on a mission to generate ideas and actions for peace and to stop the use of child soldiers in conflicts globally.
NAI-C is located in Canada and currently has on-the-ground projects in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda. We have engaged in projects with former child soldiers in Sierra Leone and Liberia and we welcome participation from peacemakers around the world.
All of your donations go directly towards international projects for peace. Donations can be earmarked for specific on-the-ground projects that empower future peacemakers.
For example, donations can be made to support projects that engage youth in sports for peace, arts for peace, and educate future peacemakers. You can also donate to cover school fees to empower future peacemakers and enable students to attend school.
Our system is designed so that the majority of funds from donations go towards actual programs and we deliberately keep our administration costs low.
Never Again International – Canada has many volunteer opportunities for motivated individuals. For example, those interested in event planning and fundraising are most welcome. Individuals can also help with writing and create their own campaigns to promote peace. NAI-C invites those interested in volunteering to contact our head office to find out how their skills can be best used.
The idea of Never Again International – Canada was first formed in 2006 at the Expanding the Dialogue: Preventing the Use of Children as Soldiers workshop in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The workshop was organized by Search for Common Ground and General Romeo Dallaire and brought together relevant stakeholders, former child soldiers and military commanders. NAI-C was formally established in 2007 after our executive director, Melanie Tomsons, was inspired to fulfill her dream of establishing an NGO to promote peace, advocate for genocide prevention and the eradication of the use of child soldiers.
